B is for Birthdays

I absolutely love birthdays! How joyful to celebrate the anniversary of your own birth. Granted other people may share your month, date, and year…but each holds claim to that day for their own celebration.

What brought ‘birthday’ to mind occurred yesterday at our family’s informal Sunday Traditional get  together.  It’s a blast! We share hosting the affair, which gives each a turn for a ‘greater good’ house cleaning day excuse that activates inhabitants to go for the big “clean” to ready the house!   We fire up Skype to connect with our Brazilian contingency as part of the ritual.  Ice cream occurs 99% of the time as the dessert served. With April Fools Day being special, our stepped up dessert also slid a slice of  Pumpkin Pie under the delicious wanna be homemade vanilla.  While devouring  the Pumpkin a-la-mode, the youngest gran @ 2.5 years, chose to announce through his wide creamy grin, “It’s my birthday!”  Now, that announcement provoked all to provide a big laugh, and look puzzled faces while chiming in to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the self selected  birthday boy!

Do we have a 2.5 year old ‘comedian in training’ pulling his off his first April Fools Joke? Or just a happy little boy cognitively linking cake and ice cream with “Happy Birthday” happy times?  Either way, he timed his joke perfectly and manuvered appropriate reinforcement from our peanut gallery,laughs, clapping, and singing “Happy Birthday”.
